Worked in a medium-sized group developing highly customized solutions in the Trade Finance industry and delivering those solutions to the top most tier in the banking industry. The software was a Spring/Hibernate/Struts-based Java web application run on Websphere, JBoss, or vanilla Tomcat supported by batch processing and data migration utilities. The applications were tightly integrated with the customers’ user portals via SSO and web services, with their backends via file feeds and APIs, and can connect to most major database engines. The UI was JSP-based, localized in 8 foreign languages, and built on open source technologies with Javascript used throughout. This delivered a very modern user experience to end-users who have become accustomed to green screens in their day-to-day, but are now able to utilize the rich experience akin to their personal web activities to better perform their work functions.
