The Gardeno Foundation is a company that grows microgreens, processes them, and delivers them as beautifully packaged and delicious salads.Microgreens are a quick growing alternative to traditional salad greens. They can be harvested every 14 days so that every salad you buy may have been harvested and processed that day - usually only blocks from you. A QR code will be on the salad so you can see exactly where the salad came from, how it was grown, what it cost to grow, and what it took to get to you.The system is being built open-source from the start, so that an open data platform can be provided to any growers who want to join in the hyperlocal vegetable movement. Grow designs, sensor and automation techniques, etc will all be available online.

Served initially in full-stack role, focusing on front-end and middle-tier development with back-end assistance as required. Progressed to platform architect after owning more and more of the stack. Architected and wrote the entire AngularJS site for SmarterHQ’s version 3 release. Converted legacy ASP.NET site to MVC 5 API to support the release. Wrote all code for loading historical customer data from MongoDB to Redshift. Introduced Kinesis, Kinesis Firehose, and Lambda for real-time data flow. Implemented Redis pub-sub over websockets for real-time data analytics with D3 and AngularJS. Spearheaded Elasticsearch integration for faceting, aggregations, and real-time search. Setup and automated deployments for front-end (Cloudfront & S3) and back-end. Leveraged the full AWS suite in a dev-ops capacity where needed.

Led development efforts to convert a legacy system from PHP to Python. Utilized Redis and Memcached for real-time caching. Used Rabbitmq brokered by Celery for all asynchronous processing. Converted existing Solr infrastructure to Elasticsearch for ease of development and performance. Final storage resting points were MongoDB for non-relational information and SQL Server / PostgreSQL for all relational needs.

RideLogix, LLC develops Intelligent Amusement Park Systems that empower park guests and operators in ways once not possible. Personally responsible for the web, desktop, and server-side software. Also constructed and completed the infrastructure in the Cloud, utilizing a RESTful API. Major application focuses include scalability, security, and stability.

Collaborated closely with Chinese engineers and lab technicians in order to learn (and later improve) many laboratory testing procedures. Helped in the design, testing, and implementation of a new line of automobile compressors. Also spent time working on software models used to improve test results and accuracy.

Summer internship in Changsha, Hunan, China working on developing and implementing a solar-driven, absorption chiller air conditioning cycle. Time was also spent on the design and creation of a corporate pavilion for the Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
