Researched the effect of a large segment of the population reaching retirement age and how that would impact state services, particularly in rural North Dakota. Researched and authored training and pilot guides for the North Dakota School Improvement Project through Minot State University for the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (U.S. Dept. of Education funded project). Worked directly with K-12 school district faculty, parents, and administration while piloting the school improvement process that incorporated NCLB and IDEA regulations/requirements. Networked with schools that failed to meet adequate yearly progress under the statutes to implement research-based improvement processes. • Conducted comparative analysis of school districts meeting and failing to meet AYP.• Worked with ND Education Association, ND Superintendents Association, and ND Parent Teacher Associations to develop school improvement planning that was effective and fit within improvement budgets. • Wrote guidelines that identified schools in danger of not meeting AYP and state level interventions designed to ‘join-up’ with districts rather than take a punitive stance.
