In my role of a coach at Redgate, I work across multiple teams providing guidance and support for all quality related aspects of software development. As our organisation has no specific testing role, the coaching often includes helping the software engineers with their test automation, organising exploratory test sessions and defining test strategies.The coaching role is not just about testing. A large part of it is helping the teams improve their development processes, encouraging them to build quality in. Learning & Development is very important to us as Redgate, and as Coaches we are playing a pivotal part in improving and evolving the way we do L&D, and use it to build careers.

Cambridge Consultants is a world leader in innovative product development company, with a genuine understanding of innovation, engineering and technology which allow it to develop radical and ground breaking new products.My responsibilities include providing test expertise to projects either directly by planning and performing testing activities, or in a consulting role to help up-skill and guide other testers and other members of the team.As well as providing test consultancy, I am also a group leader, line-managing a small group of testers within the wider test group. I help to train other testers, and promote better testing activities and approaches across various parts of the company.As we embrace Agile development, I am using my prior experience to support this, and helping to encourage the formation of cross-functional generalist development teams. A significant part of this is in the unofficial role of quality coach, supporting the engineers in their quest to produce efficient, high quality and tested products, as well as providing the specialist testing such as performance, security, load.

Working across multiple projects from start to finish, from requirements analysis to release testing and delivery. Projects range from embedded wireless systems to digital cloud services. Responsible for test strategy, planning and execution, both manual and automation. I've also been in a more consultancy role to encourage better test practice amongst the software engineers by working with them and guiding their testing activities.I have also worked with the other testers in the test group to improve our skills as well as continued involvement in the wider test community.

As Head of Test Engineering, I was responsible for leading the Testing functional group, encouraging continual improvement and innovation.One of my main tasks was to make sure Testing is a career that our testers can be proud of. This involved setting up training, ensuring our testers skills are being used and generally raising the profile of testing both internally and externally.

I've worked on several projects, some existing legacy products (SQL Prompt, SQL Compare), others new 'from the ground up' products (SQL Source Control). This involved a plethora of testing skills, but primarily exploratory techniques, and various types of test automation.

Software Quality Assurance, Manual & Automated Testing of software for the Broadcast industry, specifically digital interactive and subtitling software.More recently, development of Web UI for server software using C#/ASP.NET/AJAX.NET/SqlServer, Intranet development for project management. Also responsible for office infrastructure, and maintaining and updating the company website, including SEO.
