My every action and interaction is rooted in improving the world around me. This intense desire to understand and better myself, the lives of others, and the communities around me fuels a curiosity that is inherent to my perspective. Always seeking new explanations, intersections, and effects of the forces at work both today and in the past, I harness my perspective for academic exploration of the ancient Mediterranean world. I see language as the ultimate humanity, closely reflecting the identity of its speakers and constantly evolving along with them. Therefore, linguistics is an excellent way to paint a picture of the past. The ancient Mediterranean continues to impact our world to this day, and I wish to examine the historical forces that shaped its cultures and languages. Shifting paradigms through academic research and using strong interpersonal and leadership skills to inspire through teaching, I will break barriers and make academia relevant and accessible to the community. Serving others changes the world and changes us in the process. I put my faith in God to tangible practice. Every interaction is an opportunity to inspire a life; every challenge met is an chance to trust and grow; every day is an invitation to learn and draw closer to God and the world around me. Living with a perspective of faith, service, and trust allows me to better the world, work diligently in opportunities, and grow as a whole person myself.
