• Technical leader for a team dedicated to the development, modernization, maintenance and operation of ingestion and ETL workflows for hundreds of disparate third-party sources spanning real estate (MLS), census, tax, address/geolocation and building data nationwide, as well as efficient and ergonomic access to this central data in company-wide shared systems• Devised two key performance optimizations resulting in a 25x speedup of the MLS data import process, establishing a dramatic competitive advantage within the industry regarding the lead time of MLS data availability (as measured by an independent third party) and a corresponding significant reduction in resource requirements and cost• Demonstrated that an impending migration of the central, single-master Postgres DB powering our exceptionally high-volume site (top 150 by traffic in the US at the time, per Alexa Traffic Ranking) across several major versions necessitated a concerted, company-wide effort to be successfully executed, and correspondingly created a system to measure performance regressions across the totality of query structures and present the results to teams for iterative feedback• Responsible for establishing and promoting engineering best practices (e.g. coding patterns, design and code reviews, alerting and monitoring as first-class development concerns, SLAs, operational playbooks, etc.) and the evaluation and adoption of relevant technologies (Kafka, StatsD, Grafana, ELK, Tableau, Icinga, etc.) within the team and company, and exemplifying high quality technical and strategic analysis and execution• Served as the technical complement to product and team management during weekly issue triage/backlog management and team quarterly goal planning, and coordinated the creation of a long-term team technical strategy road map
