Product and Engineering were reorganized and I was asked to build a Sensor and Language Tooling team inside our Detection Platform group. This team focused on non-event source capabilities of the Falcon endpoint, a domain-specific language used by detection and endpoint security developers, and some common libraries/plumbing/pipelines written in that language. The team grew from 5 to about 15 people, spread from Australia to Germany. This team was my first exposure to managing managers.

The information architecture and cloud ontology team that I spun out was reunited with the original team and I was asked to manage the merged entity. The team of about a dozen people worked in Python, Go and Haskell, across three continents. We build compilers, cloud microservices, ontology tooling, a high performance string matching engine, and a few things that are hard to explain outside CrowdStrike.

I was hired onto CrowdStrike's Ontology team, where I worked on a compiler for a domain-specific language written in python and did early work on designing a store for data definitions with interesting forward and backward compatibility requirements. After about two years, I planned the roadmap and hiring plan for a new information architecture and cloud ontology team and started building out that capability.
