For over 40 years my legal practice has been focused on strategically managing legal risks and resolving disputes. I advise and represent business clients, high net worth individuals and governments in Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago and other Caribbean jurisdictions. I also undertake selective engagements on a pro bono basis.I was appointed Senior Counsel (“Silk”) in 2003. I regularly act as lead Counsel in significant litigation before Caribbean courts at all levels, including the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. I also represent clients in arbitrations and mediations, and will also accept appointments to act as an arbitrator or mediator.Having spent most of my professional life practicing in Trinidad & Tobago, I now live and work in Barbados, where I am a Partner in Hamel-Smith Caribbean.
