I worked with the Dispute and Risk (Litigation) department at M.Hamel-Smith&Co. while getting admitted to practice in Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados. I conducted research, drafted legal documents and prepared submissions for the senior lawyers at the firm. I attended, and assisted, at Court hearings in Trinidad and St. Vincent. Additionally, I assisted a Judicial Settlement Officer at a number of mediation hearings under Trinidad's JSC pilot project.

Drafted briefs, wrote memos, conducted legal research. I worked with lawyers in the areas of criminal law, personal injury and sexual abuse litigation, and labour and employment law. I handled matters in Small Claims Court and assisted with cases in the Provincial Court, Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal.

I spent the summer as an intern with the Litigation department of Clarke Gittens Farmer. I conducted legal research, drafted documents, and attended Court hearings at the High Court, Court of Appeal and Magistrates Court.

As a summer intern at M.Hamel-Smith&Co. I spent the majority of my time actively working on a major case involving the oil and gas industry in Trinidad & Tobago. I researched and prepared memoranda for lawyers, I attended and took notes and client meetings and court appearances, and I sorted data into Lexis CaseMap.
