Connect: the ability to communicate deeply and persuasively, and flex your personal style accordingly. Listen deeply; assert clearly and fearlessly; inspire; recognize and reduce conflict; gain alignment through dialogue; communicate across cultures, genders, ethnic identities. Without all three legs, the tripod will not stand. With all three, leaders can develop the personal presence and power to meaningfully change organizational direction and people’s lives. I use the tools of The Leadership Circle Profile, MBTI, Strengths Finder, storytelling, Bazi Profiling, and the analytical approach developed by McKinsey. I also base much of my work on my experience as a Zen monk for 7 years in Japan, and over 25 years of Tibetan Buddhist meditation practice.
