As Chairman of the CareersMultiList National Advisory Committee I led a number of major initiatives including:• re-engaging the disillusioned partner recruitment agencies through focusing them on the real value of participation and membership;• driving the sharing of roles between partner recruitment agencies that resulted in many partners generating over 10% of their turnover from job-splits (job sharing); and • guiding the National Advisory Committee to look after the best interests of both the partner recruitment agencies and CareersMultiList, for the benefit of bothI worked very closely with the Managing Director to align the CareersMultiList’s strategic direction with the nearly 200 partner recruitment agencies individual goals and acted as the primary conduit between the members and management.CareersMultiList offers clients access to a vast network of partner recruitment agencies across Australia through a single point of contact. Working to a client’s predefined criteria and benchmarks, CareersMultiList mobilize specialist agency teams with ‘best fit’ industry knowledge to lead the recruitment drive and secure talent.

I experienced both success and failure at the helm of Spectrum. The successes included:• growing the business from $2M in turnover per annum to over $9M;• securing and maintaining preferred provider contracts with AXA Australia, Aviva, Australian Administration Services, the TAC and Vanguard Investments;• winning the tenders to source the customer service teams when the Melbourne Museum re-opened and ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) when it opened; and most satisfyingly• seeing many of the people grow personally + professionally whilst at Spectrum and go on to bigger and better things in their careers and lives.The failures included:• being too hands on in some areas of the business and not enough in others;• planning based upon hope and not capability, capacity + evidence;• too often tell and not asking;• losing $250K in one year; and• not walking my talkMy greatest step forward as a leader was when I realized I was the problem and got out of the way, providing my people with a clear vision and letting them structure their teams and incentive scheme, which resulted in a $1.5M turnaround in profitability.My responsibilities included setting and tracking the business strategy, new client sales, marketing, client management + retention, tendering and leading the organisation.Spectrum Personnel was one of Melbourne's leading Financial Services Recruitment specialist providing Temporary/Contract and Permanent placements across the Customer Service, Business Support and Technical Specialists roles. Spectrum was acquired by The Ingen Group in 2012.
