Responsible for coordinating and implementing the Emergency Management Plan for St. Joseph’s Health, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and conducting annual hazard vulnerability assessments. Duties include managing emergency preparedness equipment and supplies, developing and delivering training programs for staff (e.g., HICS, decontamination, PPE, and mass casualty response), and fostering collaboration with community response partners. Oversees the scheduling and documentation of training exercises to test emergency plans and improve operations. Maintains the functionality of emergency operations centers and ensures effective communication with external agencies. Additionally, explores and applies for emergency management grants to support preparedness initiatives.

Primarily responsible for the respiratory protection program, initial/annual fit testing, just-in-time fit testing, train-the-trainer, referrals for medical clearances, documentation, and OSHA reporting for fit testing processes.

The Medical Unit Leader (MEDL) is responsible for ensuring occupational health of all incident personnel, including planning for and coordinating incident emergency response. Incident emergency response often involves MEDL coordination of patient evacuations/extractions from remote areas requiring good knowledge of available resources and their capability. The MEDL reports to the Logistics Section Chief (LSC) or the Safety Officer (SOF) and works in the Logistics functional area.
