Hello there!After completing my Master's degree in Fusion Energy at the University of York, I have joined Tokamak Energy Ltd, a private fusion company in the UK, that is exploring the high-field spherical tokamak path through the fusion landscape. For the past 4+ years I have been a part of the theory and modeling group within our wider physics team, and have been working on a number of challenges. These include the design of plasma facing components (PFCs) in future fusion devices, such as our next tokamak ST80-HTS, as well experimental data analysis of the heat loads on PFCs in our present tokamak, ST40.I help maintain and develop the free-boundary solver ‘FreeGS’, and am an experienced user of the code ‘HEAT’ for evaluating PFC heat loads. These are both Python-based tools, and it is this computing language that I am the most proficient with.: )

These include:>Designing plasma equilibria using the free-boundary Grad-Shafranov solver ‘FreeGS’ for ST40 and future devices, such as ST80-HTS.>Modelling heat loads on the plasma facing components (PFCs) of our present device, ST40, in order to assess the impact of operations on the PFCs.>The 2D design of divertor PFCs in future devices using optimisation tools that I have developed in-house at TE.>Assessing 3D heat loads on PFCs in future fusion devices using the code ‘HEAT’ and driving the 3D shaping of said PFCs accordingly.>Experimental data analysis of ST40, wherein I have developed tools to extract the width of the heat exhaust channel from IR thermography measurements of our divertor.>Managing student placements.>Working with our national and international collaborators.>Presenting technical work to audiences of various sizes and technical backgrounds both internally and externally.>Working to integrate groups from a variety of disciplines as part of a wider technical team in the design work of future fusion devices.
