What I'm reading this month (December 2024): ‘Power Failure’ by Bill Cohan. A good insight into the history of General Electric (GE) from its origins to the present day. Focussing on the personalities involved, it helps explore an example of how the superstar CEO came into being and really brings out how important and risky the GE Capital business was to GE overall. A good read. Away from reading, I'm a partner within Restructuring & Debt Advisory. I work with listed and privately-owned corporates, lenders and other stakeholders globally to help raise, refinance and restructure debt facilities. I believe that assessing valuation and its drivers – then mapping key stakeholders’ understanding of their exposures, motivations and interests – are fundamental to achieving a successful transaction.For over 16 years, I have helped raise capital for M&A, working capital, capex, dividend recapitalisations and shareholder buyouts. I also raised new money facilities from incumbent lenders and special situations lenders in distressed scenarios and my work includes providing IBRs, pre-lend reviews, due diligence, valuation, strategic options analyses and contingency planning. I have worked with a range of companies across the world and different creditors including bank lenders, non-bank lenders, hedge funds, special sits investors, pension funds, insurers, governments and providers of guarantee and surety instruments. I also advise on a range of ESG-linked financings including Sustainability-Linked Loans (SLL).I previously worked within the investment banking division at Lehman Brothers in London, working with a range of clients across Europe. I am a qualified Chartered Accountant with the ICAEW, and I graduated from the London School of Economics with a First-Class degree in BSc Economics.When not working, I love sport including football, golf and boxing.
