I worked with OpenHydro and in doing so have received great experience working with the leading company in tidal turbine technology. It has given me a better understanding of how to work in a project team environment in terms of commercial awareness, meeting deadlines, document management and teamwork. My knowledge of health and safety helped me work efficiently and safely while on site visits surrounded by heavy machinery and near coastlines.My duties included:Using AutoCAD and SolidWorks Electrical to develop accurate floor plans for a new facility and electrical schematic drawings respectively. Supplier Interfacing - obtaining quotes and information on products, gathering datasheets and certifications to make sure products could be used across different regulated markets. I gained great knowledge from other engineers, as well as using my own knowledge to make myself an invaluable member of the team.

Monaghan / Cavan Area

In the two years of working for ESB Networks my time was rotated from working in stations, on overhead lines and patrolling areas. Safety was a huge part of my experience with ESB, learning how to work in close proximity to live apparatus and climbing poles. Stations: Here I got the opportunity to work in High Voltage stations were I wired panels, constructed new stations and replaced old equipment. Overhead Lines: Mostly working as part of a team we would set up new connections for costumers and regularly maintaining the overhead lines by replacing poles, conductors, insulators and cross arms. Areas: Working in areas involved new or disconnections, replacing fuses, meter readings, earthing lines and dealing with issues for the public.
