This position was created to lead a multi-year development of a DevOps practice at Scottrade and evangelize the philosophy across the organization. Worked closely with IT leaders to develop short-, mid-, and long-term roadmap for DevOps adoption. Met with executives to discuss concerns. Presented core concepts at IT-wide town hall meetings. Created a DevOps task force with representation from across IT and non-IT business lines to define strategy and priority. Worked with key stakeholders and vendors to perform CI/CD pipeline orchestration tool evaluation. The announced acquisition of Scottrade by TD Ameritrade cut short the implementation of many parts of our DevOps strategy, but I remain excited about the possibilities that applying DevOps principles can bring to an organization.

Invited to serve a one-year term in the inaugural year of the Innovation Lab at Scottrade. This is a small Agile/Scrum team tasked with brainstorming and prototyping new customer-facing concepts and demoing them to business owners and executives. The concepts which received approval are developed into fully functioning features for our customers to demo and provide feedback on a dedicated sandbox web site before getting integrated into our existing products as a full production quality feature. We developed full stack including SQL databases, WCF web services, .NET MVC4, and several JavaScript frameworks.During this period, participated in three more Hackathons taking a win in two of these three challenges.

Surgically split the middle tier to dissociate the Advisor space from the Retail space. This included complete replacement of legacy, proprietary C++ client/server console applications with WCF/C# web services. Rewrote highly critical systems for order validation, placement, and routing with an emphasis on performance and support for large (several thousand) orders to be validated and placed as a single unit. This was my first experience on an Agile/Scrum team and had tight interaction and cooperation with business stakeholders.During this time frame, I participated on a winning concept in Scottrade's first Hackathon

Joined the Scottrader team at the beginning of a ground-up platform rewrite of a client facing, standalone Java front-end including streaming live market data, dynamic charting, and trading used by tens of thousands of people daily. Performed on-ship installs of hardware and software, including a week-long, at-sea install. Responsible for developing Java based front end for hardware configuration management. Secret level security clearance was achieved.
