The Kronos Hiring Solutions Group provides software and services to help employers hire employees. My involvement can be summarized in three phases:In the first phase, I provided Tier III technical support and was responsible for handling the most difficult and advanced problems with the Hiring Solutions Group’s software and services. In the second phase, I was a part of the Core Team which maintained and enhanced internal tools. One tool was called File Watcher. This was composed of a Windows Service that recorded all file activity in a database, another service that compared the file activity with a schedule of expected files, and also a web application used for configuring the system. Another tool was called Query Tool. This was a web application that allowed users to run pre-written and on-demand queries against the Workforce Acquisition databases. It was protected against SQL Injection, all queries executed were logged, and sensitive personal information was filtered out of the query results. The third phase was focused on integrating Kronos HR and Kronos Acquisition products. Technologies used while at Kronos included SQL Server, classic ASP, ASP .NET, Oracle, and Java.

At its peak, Hollywood Video was the second largest video rental company in the United States, behind Blockbuster Video, and was subsequently acquired by Movie Gallery.Rental product inventory was managed by the corporate office using internally written systems. I worked in the Information Systems department maintaining and enhancing these systems. One system managed surplus product and was called Centralized Wall Management. It had a back-end process that identified the surplus product at each Hollywood Video store and a front-end application that allowed the business to choose which surplus product to pull back to the distribution center or turn into Previously Viewed product. Another system managed new product allocation and was called Prebook. It identified how many copies of each new release title to send to each Hollywood Video store and took into account past store rental performance as well as the performance of like titles. Helped support and maintain a multi-dimensional data warehouse. It contained three fact tables, 12 dimensions, and 5 materialized views.Purchase orders from vendors were also managed using a custom system that was written in-house. Although I wasn't as involved in supporting the PO system, I did develop an application called the Electronic Invoice Viewer that was used by the Accounts Payable department for matching Purchase Orders, Invoices, and Receipts. I also helped set up EDI interchanges and mappings with vendors. Maintained and enhanced a "Top 50" set of reports that were used by the merchandising and executive teams for evaluating the rental performance of the product.Data was stored in Oracle databases. Applications were written with Delphi.

Branden Technologies provided hardware and software for monitoring die casting and injection molding manufacturing processes and was later acquired by Moldflow.I was part of a team of four that maintained and enhanced process and production monitoring products. The software was written exclusively in Delphi and used a Client/Server database. Unique qualities included real-time process monitoring, TCP/IP communications, serial communications, statistics, services that were required to run 24/7, and web-based reporting. Unique qualities of the programming included object oriented design, event driven design, and multi-threaded design. My last core responsibility was developing a Windows service that communicated between a database service and a hardware device. The hardware was connected to transducers that measured physical manufacturing characteristics like Position, Velocity, and Pressure.

National Insurance Protection (NINPRO) provides collateral protection insurance and force placed fire insurance for banks and credit unions. When a person gets a loan from a lender, he or she agrees to insure the collateral used for protecting the loan. Lenders monitor this insurance requirement and if it determines the collateral isn't sufficiently insured, a notice will be sent to the borrower reminding them of their insurance obligations. After sending a second notice and not getting a response, an insurance policy will be issued.I maintained an application that tracked the insurance for the collateral. It was written in Clipper. Also maintained a back-end system that generated the non-compliance notices and insurance policies. It was written in Paradox.Wrote data conversion routines for integrating data from lender and third-party systems.
Small Systems Programmer
Fresh out of high school and seeking identity I found adventure as a young Marine and an ambition to be a programmer. The Corps took me to places like Saudi Arabia and Somalia where I participated in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Restore Hope. It was here where I learned about local area networks, setting up Banyan Vines systems, laying coaxial cable, installing Ethernet cards, and managing user accounts. It was also here where I began my programming career, starting in a DOS environment and using a dBase III compiler called Clipper. Received a Certificate of Commendation for reducing the time needed to upload Air Force flight manifests from hours to 10 minutes. Also received a meritorious promotion to Private First Class (E-2) while in boot camp and left the service with an honorable discharge. Reached the rank of Sergeant (E-5).
