Formerly working for Arc Pensions Law as an independent consultant with 16 years' hands-on experience of managing UK and international law firms, supporting the firm on a variety of management, operational and leadership issues.

Chris’ work whilst Managing Partner focused on the successful establishment, operation and rapid growth of the Arc Pensions Law business. This included the management of the business, recruitment of new team members, business planning and the promotion of the practice. Arc Pensions Law not only serves the needs of trustees and sponsors who require pensions law support for their occupational pension schemes but specifically focuses on supporting other UK and US law firms that require specialist pensions law support for their clients and lack the specialist expertise, or have only limited resources, in-house. Arc Pensions Law also has a particular focus on supporting pension schemes through the process of buy-in and buy-out, helping to drive the streamlined and efficient winding-up of the scheme. The firm has already been recognised with numerous short-listings and awards wins including Pensions Law Firm of the Year and the award for Specialist Law Firm of the Year at the British Legal Awards (twice)

Highlights of Chris’ nine year tenure as Senior Partner include:1. Change management: Chris led the firm's first program to establish new culture and values as part of a post-merger integration program after which he led on maintaining and embedding this new, by pursuing progressive, relentless improvement of the firm's governance and management systems and structures. The firm's average partner profits more than doubled under Chris' tenure as Senior Partner.2. Leadership / vision: Chris led on the development of the firm's 2020 vision 'to become a law firm of truly international reach, world-class service quality and excellent value' and set the strategy that successfully delivered that vision by 2015.3. Strategy: Led on strategy development, implementation of that strategy over ten years and change management, including communication.4. Performance management: Developing more sophisticated and aligned people management and reward systems, specifically for partners. Actively promoting a more gender-equal approach to partner promotions and the development of partners.5. International expansion: in addition to its existing international offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai, the firm opened in Beijing, Singapore, Dubai, Qatar, Munich, Paris and Istanbul under Chris’ leadership, as well as adding UK offices in Belfast and Aberdeen.6. Diversity: Chris conceived and launched Project Sky, Pinsent Masons' award-winning programme to increase the proportion of female partners and women in leadership positions at the firm.

Lead partner for the combined employment, pensions and tax groups at Pinsent Masons LLP, responsible for managing a UK-wide team of around 50 partners.

Lead partner and manager of the pensions team at Biddle & Co, later merged into Pinsent Curtis Biddle, which then became Pinsents and subsequently Pinsent Masons.
