I have never met a stranger, I will talk to everyone. Problems fascinate me and I enjoy hearing about them, conducting research and interviews, collaborating with brilliant people to determine cause then helping develop strategy to prevent their recurrence. Sprinkle in an appreciation for technology, process, procedure and the human factor, now we are getting somewhere.For the past 35+ years, no matter the work, the goal is the same - understand the needs of the customer (internal or external) and be their voice, deliver premier service and support, nurture relationships, develop best practices or generally acceptable standards (and continually improve), be part of the solution - not part of the problem, leave the door open and listen to your visitors, take accountability for your actions, and recognize learning derives from failure and success. In the last 15 years, I feel I have put my finger on the "niche" areas where I prefer to add value: the expansive domains of quality management and operations management.At TierPoint, I am pretty fortunate to oversee change management, problem management, root cause determination and reporting, and collaborate with employees and leaders from all parts of the business.As I get older (yuck!), I appreciate conversations with people, listening and then, if able, offer a "breadcrumb", coaching, mentoring or a follow-up to help them advance. The real reward is when I see them have their "ah-ha moment" and all the "pieces" seemingly come together, their excitement, and the new energy that emerges. As a leader - this is pretty special.Beyond the workplace, I enjoy time with my family, being outdoors, traveling, bicycling, genealogy, select military history and continuing to learn.As always, I must extend tremendous thanks to friends, colleagues, and former leaders from days past during military service, public safety and industry who have encouraged me to be more and do more.
