I am a technology consultant with over 20 years of experience automating and implementing software solutions for corporate and institutional clients. I have worked with large and medium-sized organizations to automate complex back-end business processes with the end goal of reducing costs, improving work-flow, generating higher quality reporting, and increasing efficiency. I have automated mission critical business processes ranging from accounting approvals, payroll time tracking and payment, employee benefits selection, security system provisioning and university financial aid data collection. I enjoy working with businesses to understand their processes and find areas for improvement in order to solve their painful problems. I learn quickly and can adapt to different team dynamics. My expertise is to design and implement systems, where the client is empowered to manage the day-to-day configuration. Therefore, my involvement is not needed on a long-term basis. This process involves designing configurable software tools for the client to own the operation. I love to keep up to date with technology, and I generally have at least three technology books or courses that I am working on at a time. I am fascinated by the the epic change in software that has occurred over the last decade. Everything and nothing has changed at the same time. We have new platforms, cloud computing, better languages, and open source libraries to speed up development and lower development costs. The one constant in all these changes is that software projects are only successful if passionate and knowledgeable people are involved. The teams members must be committed to the success of the customer and communicate well or misery will prevail. When I am not solving business problems with software, you can find me playing with my children, surfing, or trying out a new recipe.
