This was the most meaningful and rewarding position of my career. As Director of Economic & Community Development, I served as the senior executive responsible for the coordination and management of Municipal departments and divisions working to improve the community’s economic vitality; facilitate commercial and residential property development; enforce building and land use codes; manage regional planning projects; and oversee community programs and facilities that contribute to the quality of life for those who live, work, and play in Anchorage.

ADP, Ltd. manages the Downtown Improvement District (DID) for Anchorage. I had the distinct pleasure of working with 21-25 talented team members (depending on the season) with responsibility to the business and property owner stakeholders of the DID. Duties included serving as the captain of the ship; direction of day-to-day business and affairs; lead role in strategic and annual planning; overseeing the $1.7 million operating budget for the company; and, chief liaison to the Board of Directors and Committees.

Lead communications efforts for ADP to effectively describe and promote the organization and its mission; counseled management and membership on effective communication strategies; assisted Executive Director in internal and external policy making, communications, public outreach, community outreach and networking; served as liaison between Downtown stakeholders and the organization; served as liaison between Downtown stakeholders and state, municipal and community-level government; work with diverse policymakers and stakeholders to achieve policy goals for Downtown; provided public outreach for planning & development projects.

Provided primary research for Knowles campaign communications team. Extensive experience in legislative research (BASIS, THOMAS, FindLaw), opposition research (public records, media), and issue-specific research. Provided content and editorial oversight for communications materials. Lead developer on local print & online communications.

Supported the development, implementation, and administration of an $18.5 million project with research, writing, database and website management, and communications skills.
