Though I still retain my role as a Civil Design Technician and in CAD Management, my job at Midwestern Consulting has expanded. I primarily focus on managing laser scanning and UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) projects in our technology group. This involves utilizing multiple scanners and drones, like our M300 Matrice RTK, to digitally capture spaces like interior/exterior/roof of buildings, utility corridors, stadiums, roadways, and even dinosaur skeleton. I offer multiple software options for processing the massive amount of data to produce a point cloud file that can be used to create a 3D model for documentation. It is imperative to understand the hardware and software to produce the most efficient final product. After doing thousands of scans and investing time in learning the best way to serve our clients, our team continues to refine and improve this process making us the go-to scanning professionals. Laser scanning projects are preferred because they are fast and allow for quick turnarounds. Each project is unique and brings its own set of challenges that I love to work through for our clients.

I work at Midwestern Consulting to train and implement Civil 3D throughout the company. I also support multiple groups on a range of different projects including surveys, cellular, infrastructure design, and residential/commercial site development throughout the upper Midwest. Outside of training, my main focus is on residential and commercial site development design. I work with an excellent team to complete projects throughout Michigan. I am a part of the process from the due diligence and surveying side, through the site planning and design stages, until shovels hit the ground. We strive to take advantage of the technology and our modeling capabilities on each and every project. We do this by building existing, proposed, and volume surfaces, constructing pipe networks, as well as creating a corridor for each and every road or hard surface, all while leveraging the dynamic model throughout each plan set.

Greater Milwaukee Area

I was hired by GRAEF as a technician in the Arizona office. I worked with the team there to complete construction plan sets. I worked in this office for 2.5 years, working hard to learn the in's and out's of Civil 3D. In 2010 I moved up to the corporate office in Milwaukee. I was tasked to implement and train the Infrastructure team to use Civil 3D. I used the companies current standards and practices and applied them to creating a Civil 3D template and training standard. Then in 2012 it was announced that WisDOT would be switching programs from Microstation to Civil 3D. My core group is GRAEF's Infrastructure team, but with WisDOT moving to Civil 3D this also opened up a need to setup and train our companies Transportation team.

I started at AH as an intern. After 2 years of learning an incredible amount about Civil Engineering and AutoCAD design I was hired as a full time employee. From there my roles were to put together plan sets mostly of residential neighborhoods. The last 2 years at AH I was able to diversify the type of work I did from mostly residential to commercial, surveying, water/wastewater and anywhere else PM's needed my AutoCAD drafting and design skills. I went from learning Autodesk Landesk Development to teaching many aspects of the program to other employees in the firm. I was also used in all steps of a project from due dilegence to construction documents to construction staking projects. By taking part in all aspects of the projects I worked on I was able to learn an incredible amount about design and apply this knowledge to all the future projects I work on.
