In what will be my final role with the US Army Reserve, I serve as a member of Army staff to create plans, control costs, build reports, and communicate the $9B Army Reserve budget, including comprehensive FY23 fiscal resource planning despite uncertain fiscal and political environment. This includes presenting the budget to the Department of the Army, Department of Defense, Office of Management & Budget, the United States Congress, and other Army Reserve stakeholders. I ensure accountability surrounding all finance activities, including fixed asset purchases, job variance analysis, product cost model preparation, and labor/overhead rates. To accomplish this, I utilize analytical thinking to embed logical risk control assessments to monitor and mitigate risk and develop management practices, plans, and strategies for minimizing loss.▪ Key accomplishment: I helped turn around struggling operations stemming from the retirement of the branch chief by getting the Comptroller Directorate back on track to close out FY22 successfully.

In this role, I partnered with 300 Army Finance Corps student officers to steward career progression and create a culture of excellence focused on future-facing decision-making through open communication. I authored and co-authored policies, procedures, doctrine, and principles that resulted in major revisions to bring Army doctrine into alignment with National Defense and National Security Strategies supporting Great Power Competition. I was also instrumental in developing Counter Threat Finance (CTF) training procedures to help protect DoD from terrorist financing threats.

I was chosen to be a Senior Financial Officer for Military Intelligence Command, charged with analyzing and evaluating financial performance of a $73M operating budget that covered 4 Congressional appropriations. Not only did I prepare and analyze reports, but I also tracked metrics, performed audits, projected future fiscal obligations, and reported findings in alignment with procedures put into place by Congress, the DoD, and the Office of Management & Budget. On top of that, I led and supervised 16 personnel who supported 7,000 soldiers to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency, which positively impacted budget. Additionally, I delivered effective training and performance feedback that returned high levels of accuracy and strong team morale.

I continued to earn promotions to roles with increasing scopes of responsibility because of my expertise in proactive risk assessment and finance management techniques surrounding budgetary requirements. As Resourcing Officer, I provided insight and strategic planning on developing a $16.3B budget that supported all Army installations worldwide. I partnered with executive leaders to allocate resources, optimizing the mix of equipment, manpower, and operational support required to complete mission-critical objectives. Additionally, I prepared regular reports to establish need and justify use of resources in alignment with Army funding requirements. Then, I made presentations to the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Congress.
