I have worked in journalism and public policy communication for over a decade, with experience at the U.S. Senate, a government science agency, national energy trade associations, public radio stations, and The Pew Charitable Trusts in Washington, D.C. While working, I earned a master's degree from George Washington University's School of Media and Public Affairs, where I studied how the media environment impacts public policy. My thesis focused on how advocacy groups can foster dialogue and engage audiences. At EPSA I direct efforts to develop and share messaging for competitive power suppliers in a swiftly changing energy policy and economic landscape, engaging a variety of tactics and channels to engage multiple audiences and stakeholders from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to consumers. At the Pew Charitable Trusts, I supported a number of strategic communications and institutional priority efforts to coordinate and amplify Pew's reach in the U.S. and with global audiences. Highlights include working across departments and projects to conceive and plan public events, performing media and platform landscape analysis, and serving as part of the core team planning content for, producing, scriptwriting and promoting Pew's new podcast. At the American Gas Association (AGA), I contributed to communications strategy, messaging, and media relations efforts to inform audiences about issues affecting natural gas utilities and customers, and energy and environmental policy nationwide. Before joining AGA, I served in the Office of Communications and Publishing at the United States Geological Survey, a government science agency providing information to understand and manage natural resources to support societal needs. I particularly enjoyed my time managing public affairs activities for the Natural Hazards mission area, educating the public and policymakers about mitigating risk from earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, landslides, and more. After graduating from Smith College with degrees in Government and French Studies, I worked on an audio production project at WCAI Cape and Islands NPR Stations, before heading to DC to intern at the office of NH Senator Jeanne Shaheen.I began my career with reporting and editorial internships with New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR) and WCAI. Specialties: Media Relations, Social Media, Events Management, Internal Communications, Writing, Editing, Web Content Planning & Development, Message Development & Strategic Communication, Media Tracking, Crisis Communications
