Independent Curator, Writer & EducatorChristina Sok | Life By Design Jul 2013 - Dec 2020Christina’s areas of interest are reflective of her diverse cultural background within an international context—melding her ethnic Korean roots with her upbringing in Southeast Asia, particularly in Singapore. As such, her research area has centred on contemporary Korean and Southeast Asian art, with emphasis on cross-cultural exchanges, cultural globalisation and multi-disciplinary collaborations. Within the Southeast Asian region, she has written particularly about Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. Her curatorial projects have challenged traditional notions of exhibition making and the ‘status quo’ of the commercial art market by exploring space, form, medium and disciplines to create new ways of thinking about not only art but knowledge, stimulating meaningful dialogue as well as encouraging introspection. At the same time, she constantly strives to touch on universal themes that speak of the human condition while expanding our minds and understanding of the world. She has had an affinity to performance art, installation, new media and experiential/interactive art, which can be seen from the exhibitions she has curated.Featured on Bloomberg TV's 'Brilliant Ideas' (2017).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3Dq9dNmE-I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTLM8ZUxi3w
