I taught third grade at Savannah Classical Academy, a title-one classical charter school, the first two years that it was open. I was responsible for developing a curriculum and lesson plans based on the Core Knowledge Curriculum. I taught Reading, Language Arts, Riggs Phonics, Science, History, and Math. I helped to implement the PBIS system in our school. While teaching at SCA I also coached Girls on the Run for girls ranging in grades from third to sixth.

West Pelzer Elementary School

During the fall semester of my last year at Clemson University, I was a practicum teacher in a fourth grade class for two days a week. During the spring semester, I completed my student teaching in a third grade class. West Pelzer Elementary School is a Title-one school. I was responsible for both observing all grades at the school, planning lessons based on the South Carolina state standards, and teaching & managing the classes I worked with. I also assisted in planning and chaperoned a third grade three-day field trip to Charleston, SC.
