I moved from an early career in journalism and editing through open learning and higher education. I have extensive and varied experience in universities: teaching, research, student support, staff development, administration. I have a range of experience in writing: from magazines to academic journals, and from television scripts on environmental issues to books for students. I have written distance learning material on varying topics: management, personal development, training for specific industries.My research into student experience has been undertaken through being a student. My initial education in philosophy and education has been augmented by later studies in mechanical engineering and e-learning. My PhD thesis was on an insider's perspective of a student's response to discourse.Specialties: academic writing, e-learning, grammar and language, student experience, the accessible curriculum (for disabled students).
