As one of only ten IB World schools in Canada offering all three International Baccalaureate programs, GNS is proud of its unique 'IB Advantage': a 21st-Century education which educates the whole child and creates global thinkers. Being a part of this community is extremely rewarding as I get to do what I love most and that is connecting people and building relationships within GNS and on a broader scale, the community surrounding GNS. In particular, working in International recruitment allows me to connect with families around the world and welcome them as part of our greater GNS community. As the Coordinator of our Family Boarding I am responsible for helping create a dynamic, nurturing and inspiring environment for our students who leave their home and make GNS and Victoria their home while they are here to study. The education of each child extends far beyond the classroom and at GNS I get to help bridge what happens in the class with what is happens at home, in particular with international students.

  • Lululemon Athletica
    Inventory Analyst
    Lululemon Athletica 2007 - 2008
    Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Having served the company through its Initial Public Offering and repositioning, I focused on serving as an Analyst in Vancouver ensuring that our 110 stores in North America had the stock they required to sell to their specific market. My focus was on 31 markets and on all new store and launches for this period. After 20 years in the surf, skate and snowboard business, founder Chip Wilson took the first commercial yoga class offered in Vancouver and found the result exhilarating. The post-yoga feeling was so close to surfing and snowboarding that it seemed obvious that yoga was an ideology whose time had come (again).Cotton clothing was being used for sweaty, stretchy power yoga and seemed completely inappropriate to Chip, whose passion lay in technical athletic fabrics. From this, a design studio was born that became a yoga studio at night to pay the rent. Clothing was offered for sale and an underground yoga clothing movement was born. The success of the clothing was dependent on the feedback from yoga instructors who were asked to wear the products and provide their insights.
  • Lululemon Athletica
    Inventory Manager
    Lululemon Athletica 2005 - 2007
Victoria And Vancouver, British Columbia Canada
When I started with the company we had 5 stores. I focused on merchandise management supporting the planners and the buyers. There were only 2 people in my shop. When I left for a short time there was 9 people serving 130 stores. It was a great time to see this business mature and break everyone's expectations.Founded in 1998, lululemon's first real store opened in the beach area of Vancouver BC called Kitsilano, in November of 2000. The idea was to have the store be a community hub where people could learn and discuss the physical aspects of healthy living from yoga and diet to running and cycling as well as the mental aspects of living a powerful life of possibilities. Unfortunately for this concept, the store became so busy that it was impossible to help the customer in this way in addition to selling the product. So the focus of training shifted solely to the lululemon educator or staff person. Our goal was to train our people so well that they could in fact positively influence their families, communities and the people walking into our stores.Although the initial goal was to only have one store, it was soon obvious that to provide a fulfilling life of growth, family, salary and mortgage for our amazing staff, we would have to provide more opportunities. It was really a matter of grow or die because active minds need a challenge.

Our focus is on ensuring that no matter your age or skill level, running or walking plays an enjoyable and rewarding part of your lifestyle. With an amazing range of sizes and widths in stock (probably the largest in Vancouver), we make sure that the shoes you run in are the ones that suit you... not what looks good on our walls.
