CurrentKi Charter Academy, serving students who reside at Texas’ largest residential treatment facility, San Marcos Treatment Center.Ki Charter Academy aims to meet the needs of a student population that is often overlooked and forgotten in educational conversations. To do this, they will offer a culmination of STEM-focused curriculum, response to intervention (RTI) programming, social and emotional character building, as well as research-based equipment and furniture designed especially for the students and uniquely-gifted staff. An additional highlight of Ki Charter Academy will be its diverse and well-rounded educational staff. With a military service stipend, Ki is welcoming highly qualified U.S. veterans who are uniquely qualified through their discipline, structure and ability to work with diverse populations to serve these students. Ki Charter Academy is a Generation 19 charter approved by the state of Texas in 2014 and is operated under the non-profit, Ki Education Foundation, which was formed solely for the public charter school. Ki’s purpose is to be the premier educational provider for students that reside in residential facilities (RF’s). Ki’s mission is to provide high-needs students with a variety of rigorous, career and academic focused curriculum to maximize potential, growth and success. A public charter school is a tuition-free public school that has the flexibility to adapt to the educational needs of individual students, while being held to strict state accountability standards. All four Ki Charter Academy founders are U.S. veterans themselves, and seek to create a blueprint of best practices for educating students that reside at residential treatment centers.
