Now as a Physician Assistant (PA) with a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) from the University of Manitoba, I have a combined 25 years of healthcare experience as a paramedic, RN and PA in various settings and locations. I am the Clinical Director of healthcare transformation & innovation at KIM Inc. Keewatinohk Inniniw Minoayawin Inc. (KIM Inc.) was established to work towards a new health system that will better respond to the needs of northern First Nations people in Manitoba. We support health and wellness services for 23 sovereign First Nation communities in northernManitoba, with a focus on equitable care, addressing racism in the health care system,responsiveness to emerging needs, and filling gaps in the health care system. More than simply taking over responsibility for health services currently under the auspices of Indigenous Services Canada First Nations and Inuit Health we will progress through advocacy, collaboration, and integration with the First Nation communities, and federal/provincial partners.Besides a passion for healthcare transformation and system design, I am passionate about clinical practice and connecting with people. I also have a passion for Point of Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) which I use to improve diagnostic medicine. I am an instructor and clinical preceptor for the University of Manitoba Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program, and I have developed several programs and courses for PA students and professionals, such as common office procedures, peripheral vascular access, PoCUS for PA Students, Interdisciplinary PoCUS for beginners, High Fidelity Simulation for beginners and a Virtual Series Titled Interdisciplinary Targeted Learning. I am also an instructor for Heart & Stroke of Canada in BLS, ACLS, PALS and PEARS.I have represented the Associate Member Class as a Councillor with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) where I contributed to healthcare regulation, governance, and policy development.Want to collaborate?
