Using OR sanitation procedures, I perform in situ recoveries of ocular tissue from organ donors for transplant and research purposes. Specific trainings are for corneal excisions and whole globe enucleations as well as personal sterility and sterile field usage. Tasks also include drawing blood, basic body and ocular exams, retrieving medical records, preparing human tissues for shipment, acting as assistant during procedures to ready the cornea for DSAEK implantation, and training new technicians.

Assisted in the retinal ganglion cell distribution mapping in wild-type and lab mice, which is done in order to study the underlying electrical circuitry of the visual cortex. Specific duties included dissection of the retina from the eye, staining and mounting retina on microscope slides, and identifying ganglion cells from images taken by a microscope to create a distribution map.
