I lead value for money audits, reviewing the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of government policy implementation. This involves managing studies and study teams, regular liaison with officials within government departments, and gathering and analysing the required evidence to draft an impactful report. The role also involves collaborating with relevant expertise internal and external to the National Audit Office, and liaising with Parliament about our outputs and insight into government.To date, I have worked mostly on value for money reports relevant to welfare and employment support offered by the Department for Work and Pensions.

In this role I led numerous financial audits on high profile government departments and entities. This has included the financial audit of the National Employment Savings Trust Corporation, and the Department for Work and Pensions, which has annual expenditure of over £200 billion, as well as various smaller clients. In this role I was responsible for teams of varying sizes, dependent upon the size and complexity of the audit. I would often report directly to the engagement director, who would liaise closely with the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG - Head of the UK National Audit Office) in helping to determine the audit opinion that the C&AG would give on the accounts.
