Christopher J. Bell is an Executive Development Professional with a successful track record of identifying, creatively engaging, and effectively managing the broad array of sources of financial support needed to sustain and enhance nonprofit organizations. Chris has a special expertise in establishing and managing relationships with corporate decision-makers, private grant-making organizations, and individuals.Chris joined the Institutional Advancement office at the University of Pittsburgh in July 2013. He serves as Senior Executive Director of Annual Programs and Communications, and is a member of Pitt's Development senior leadership team. Prior to joining the University, Chris served as a Development consultant for Global Links, helping the organization expand awareness about its mission, while assisting in establishing a comprehensive fund-raising program.Before joining Global Links, Chris spent more than 4 years in Phoenix at the Musical Instrument Museum, where he served as VP of External Relations. At MIM, he oversaw the development and implementation of a comprehensive fund-raising program focused on major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors. In addition to recruiting and directing MIM’s professional Development team, Chris managed several marketing and PR agencies during the creation of MIM's institutional brand messaging.Before moving to Phoenix, Chris served as Associate VP for Development at Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, where he assisted the VP for Development with the reorganization of the department. During that time period, CMP surpassed its institutional goal of raising $150 million, the most successful fund-raising campaign in its history. Prior to joining CMP, Chris held Development positions at the University of Pittsburgh, Point Park University, and Saint Vincent College. Chris is a member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
