Our foundation manages extended search and rescue operations throughout the state of Hawaii. We also provide training and equipment for individual search and rescue volunteers as well as for search and rescue teams throughout the state. We typically engage when the state resources have become exhausted without resolve. Our searches run on continuous 24 hour operational periods ranging from 1 to 27 days without pause. My role as search manager includes creating the search plan, organizing and recruiting volunteers, vetting and outfitting the searchers, overseeing daily search operations, providing reports to stake holders, managing the media presence and taking interviews to keep the public updates when appropriate. When we are not on active searches I write curriculums for classes we provide, outfit and teach said classes. I also research, test and purchase equipment for our staff and searchers so we can have the best equipment available when we are in the field. I also consult with outside resources to learn and maintain best practices as well as provide consultation to groups in developing their own search and rescue programs.

Planning and installation of small trees and landscape features. Pruning and/or removal of trees of all maturities. Supervision and training of employees on equipment and current best practices with regard to tree care, heavy equipment operation and maintenance, use of climbing equipment, self and buddy rescue, chainsaw operation, and all other aspects of daily operations within the company. Provide estimates for work to be done to the customer. Maintain books, banking, scheduling of jobs and employees. Research and purchasing of equipment for use and growth of the company. Establish hiring, advancement, and termination criteria for employees.

I was brought on to the Insight Mobile Data team to build out the Search Tech Advisory Team foundation as a sister company project. My role was remote work with the support of IMDs staffing and resources to create the foundation as well as integrate a cohesive image for Insights contribution on a philanthropic level. Insight Mobile Data sold to a larger tech conglomerate in December of 2019, and my role in the company was terminated, as the new company did not see the value in our mission, leading to the former CEO and I continuing the foundation, separate from IMD, now InsightGPS.

Lead climber. Foreman

Kiteboard instructor on the North Shore of Maui. Teach students, both new and advanced, safe and exciting ways to improve their kiteboarding skills in the ever changing environment of the North Shore waters Maui, Hawaii. Skills include equipment firmilirazation, launching and landing, kite and board control, self rescue, twin tip free style, wave riding, and foiling.

This was the first time that I owned and operated my own company. So along with the daily operations of a tree service, I also had to learn how to manage the business aspects of the company. We maintained a steller reputation by hiring well, being timely and polite, and providing a high quality work ethic to out clients. I'll admit that I learned alot along the way, especially with regard to business and personnel management. When I closed the company, I gave both customers and employees a month notice, helped my employees with new job placement, and passed our continuing contracts off to a reputable company that agreed to keep them at our current rates. We were like a family. We worked, ate, and vacationed together. We all enjoyed a quality of life that allowed us to go on climbing, skiing and whitewater trips often, as well as pay the bills. I decided to close the company because I was at a point where we should either spend a large sum on new and better equipment and commit to more time in the field for the next several years and I was still wanting to travle in a bigger way than owning a company would responsibly allow. So we finished out a strong month, settled the books, and I headed to Central America on a motorcycle. No regrets there.
