I am a senior developer and systems administrator with close to two decades of professional experience. The main focus of my career, so far, has been developing web-facing database applications. My primary languages have been Python for server-side code and JavaScript for client-side code. At the application level, I have made extensive use of Django and Zope. At the database level, I have mainly used PostgreSQL but have also used MySQL, SQLite and MS-SQL Server when taking existing projects.Over this time, my job has also involved re-engineering third-party systems developed elsewhere. These modifications include adding functionality to meet new business requirements, updating systems to work in a more modern and secure computing environment, and optimizing systems whose existing implementations have not scaled to meet demand. By making these changes, I have extended the usability and lifespan of these systems.As part of the many projects that I have worked upon, I have interacted with a wide variety of people from all backgrounds. Whether members of large or small organizations, from large cities or small towns, or from a technical or non-technical, I have found ways to relate and communicate with clients and third-party contractors.
