    My postdoctoral work involved the design, construction, and characterization of genetically-modified mouse strains in which components of a particular Ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation pathway could be manipulated. This work resulted, among other things, in the discovery of a number of physiological abnormalities in mice lacking N-terminal arginylation. Those abnormalities included loss of fat tissue, infertility in males, and a number of neurological problems including seizures.
