I provide research to support the sustainable management of marine ecosystems and fisheries. My work brings ecological complexity to the planning tools used to inform decision making. I am passionate about working with partners in government, industry and NGOs to develop research that solves real world problems. These partnerships have seen me work on topics as diverse as the conservation of blue carbon ecosystems, monitoring of tuna fisheries, management of coral reef fisheries and global climate science. I also work on cutting edge research questions. In my current role as Australian Research Council Future Fellow I am studying unprecedented environmental change we are now seeing and its implications for ocean ecosystems and ocean food production. I specialise in mathematical modelling and statistical analysis. My areas of expertise include spatial analysis, GIS, Bayesian statistics and the development of bespoke mathematical models.I use the R programming language and also specialise in teaching R to others.
