My garden centre life .. I have always loved working with plants and the outdoor life.I started working in garden centres at aged 16 (Lady Green, Ince Blundell) I enjoyed my role at lady green working in all outdoor departments and on the nursery side of the business. I worked on the fast paced bedding area. I managed the stock and orders each day. In 2008 Lady Green was sold to Strikes.I worked for a further year under Strikes.I was looking to move into a buying role and an opportunity arose within Warbreck Garden Centre in May 2009. I was asked if I like work at Warbreck garden centre in a buying role at the age of 21, this was a fantastic opportunity to grow my skills in all areas of a new business venture. I was employed as plant buyer and duty manager at Warbreck Garden centre. As a team we started to improve the garden centre which was a challenge.After working for 12 years at Warbreck Garden centre garden centre I was approached by Ames Uk 🇬🇧 I made the decision to join as Sales manager for independent garden centres and groups For the north-west. The time I was at Ames UK I Gained great experiences with meeting new people enhancing my selling skill, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute unfortunately due to the difficult trading year I Northwest role was made redundant. I use LinkedIn to put a post out to ask any Garden centres or companies in the UK for roles available. Within 30 minutes I had a response the powers of LinkedIn ! Charles Bentley and Sons had asked to have a chat about an opportunity within the company. I decided to grab the opportunity with Charles Bentley and Sons I was made very welcome and they are a lovely company. I started in the role, after a few weeks, I was finding the role difficult due to the size of the area covering all of the North and Scotland. My background has always been garden centres and a lot of the customers. I was visiting where wholesalers. only due to the distance of travel. I decided it wasn’t for me. I joined British garden centre group as Assistant Manager Bold Heath Garden Centre. The main area of focus of the role is to run the overall shop including landscape department. I’m very proud to be starting a new position as assistant store manager at Lady Green Garden Centre More to come soon
