Reflecting on my life, it is clear that I am an innate builder, a self-taught learner with an unbridled curiosity to understand how things work and a passionately eager teacher, excited to share my knowledge with others.As a youth, I spent all my free time either building things or taking things apart. Building with Lego was a passion - whether expansive medieval scenes, modern cityscapes, or intricate mechanical machines. My curiosity and thirst for understanding was satisfied by my instinct to open everything up, just to study its internals. In high school, I was exposed to the power of programming and it transformed me. With code I could rapidly build with virtually no constraints – no longer was I limited to the bricks in my bin or shelf space to hold my latest model.As an adult, I carried this passion of building with me – both in my career as a software engineer and in my personal life, constructing all aspects of my own home. As an adult I also found myself yearning to share my knowledge and experiences with others. Whether through casual conversation on home repair or more formally through youth mentorship in Boy Scouts or as a High School Computer Science teacher.My career in the software industry has seen me wear a variety of hats; showcasing my creative problem solving, flexibility in roles and my ability to master a myriad of technologies. As a Software Test Engineer on Microsoft Excel, I learned to scrutinize every aspect of product design and validate against the needs of the customer not merely the definition of the spec. As a Software Design Engineer in Test, I found myself honing my programming and design skills, crafting high end testing tools and systems to aid a different type of customer – fellow engineers. And as a Software Engineer, I deliver highly reliable, easily maintainable features for the end customer.
