In order to be a effective teacher for a diverse society I have mastered several skills. During my matriculation through Harris Stowe State University, I learned 11 teacher roles that assist greatly while managing a classroom. There are three roles that I deem extremely important to being a outstanding teacher. They are Master of Content, Deliverer of Content and a Skilled instructor. Being a Master of Content gives me the ability to analyze the scope and sequence of a curriculum. By doing this I am able to properly prepare units and lessons that will align with the districts and states CCO's. However being a Master of content is just the first step needed tube an outstanding teacher. During my time spent as a student, I was able to observe several educators that were masters of content. Yet they lacked the necessary skills and strategies to inculcate a diverse group of students. For this reason I spent several years honing my skills at being a Skilled Instructor and a Deliver of Content. I have worked with students that have different cultural, financial, emotional and ethnic backgrounds. Through dedication and perseverance I was able to develop teaching strategies that would be most effective for those particular students. I am willing to do this for any student that I encounter because teaching is my passion and I take pride in reaching students that most educators simply write off. The most important skill I acquired to be an outstanding teacher for a diverse society would be my ability to reflect. As a Reflective Practitioner, I spend several hours a week analyzing my own teaching methods and ways I can improve upon them. I am aware that every student learns differently so I act accordingly. I adopt new methods and stratagems from both research and PLC's to increase my lesson efficacy. These are just a few of the reasons on why I would be and outstanding teacher in your school districts.
