At Old Dominion University I choose to do my concentration in Power and Energy. This option stood out to me because I have always been interested in the production of power in our world. Power will always be needed and I want to be apart of that process. My senior design project involved working with a local entrepreneur who had designed and built a tesla bladeless turbine. He wanted us to design and build a humidifier that would work in conjunction with his turbine and allow us to test it with humidified air. We also set up a testing rig that would receive the necessary information from the turbine and humidifier to allow us to determine its efficiency. In the end we were able to increase the turbines efficiency by using humidified air from our humidifier. Completing this project confirmed my interest in power and energy as I felt a huge amount of accomplishment since we were able to actually make a change in efficiency. My other interests in power include alternative energy, especially Nuclear and Solar power.
