I was involved with Medical and Dental humanitarian outreach from a very young age. With missionary parents, I would be a translator for healthcare professionals to connect with the poverty-stricken people of Brazilian shanty towns. With this early exposure in mind, I have always applied myself academically to achieve my dream of becoming a Dentist. Once graduating from high school, I passed the highly competitive national College Entrance Exam (ENEM) in Brazil and entered Dental School. After two and a half years of studying, I wanted a better education, and I decided to move to the US, where I would have more resources to push myself to become the best professional I could be.I have been putting myself through school by working a few odd jobs and gaining clinical experience working in different dental offices. I am finishing a bachelor's degree in Biology here at The University of Texas and will be applying for Dental Schools during the admissions cycle of 2023. Although the journey is long, I am happy to be in this process and can't wait to become the knowledgeful and caring Dentist I know I can become.
