After a short period away I returned back to the job that I loved but unfortunately it had changed slightly and was subcontracted out to a company called Aggreko down in Dumbarton , this was a very repetitive role in a manufacturing factory which wasn’t for me. I was then subcontracted down to Renfrewshire Council for two years this opened another door for me as I then gained experience on working on RCV’s which then gave me an opportunity to become an employee of Renfrewshire Council.

This is where my real learning progressed during my career as an Auto Electrician , The Crawford Group were a Field Service organisation where we had a base of around 8 Auto Electricians that went out to repair or fit out various types of plant machinery/ plant Vehicles , Commercial vehicles and Light Vehicles. This role was a challenge and there were no two days the same. Unfortunately the amount of work the company was getting dried up due to the recession and I was Laid off with the view to returning if the work load increased.

Much the same role as the one I had at the Crawford Group , Field Service but never lived up to the Crawford Group so I returned there after a short time.

This was a challenging role for me to start working on commercial public service vehicles something I had never worked on before as the Electrical systems were totally different from those on private light vehicles. Not only that I had to deal with a constant night shift bases but my learning curve progressed , latterly changing onto a day shift .

After completing my two year YTS the company kept me on as a third year apprentice where I was able to complete my training and gain my Scottish Motor Trade Certificate on completion of my apprenticeship
