 SEPTA Frazer Shop and Yard Expansion Phase I & II Frazer, PA $40M The SEPTA Frazer Shop and Yard Expansion Project involves the construction of a 2700 LF x 30’h T-wall. The wall was constructed to support the yard expansion which includes 3 new rail sidings and 3 new building structures. The buildings include a prefab cold storage structure, a 25’ deep drop table pit completed formed and poured in place and a new wheel truing equipment facility. Installation of 2 new overhead cranes, a complete fall protection system, new and relocated overhead contact system and reconstruction activities in the existing shop to accommodate the additions and new shop space. The construction schedule was very aggressive due to the impending deliveries of the new engines and train cars. The three-prime contract required detailed coordination to ensure all the pieces were assembled in the necessary sequence.

Route 295/42/I-76 Direct Connect Contract 1, Belmawr, NJ $44M The 295/42/ I-76 Direct Connect 1 project was the first of 5 phases that will ease the congestion between the 3 major interstates. The project is valued at over $1.2B and construction is expected to last for 12+ years. Contract 1 was a very aggressive project with significant time constraints. Roadway work was restricted to nights and certain off season weekends. Abbonizio was responsible for the erection of 102K SF of MSE walls, 29K LF of Pipe, 500+ drainage structures, 800K CY of Excavations, 100K CY of pavement removal, 365K CY of Regulated material disposal, a column supported embankment system under the walls, ramps and certain roadways and the overall removal, replacement or newly constructed infrastructure system. I was tasked with the managing of the CPM, the daily and weekly schedules, the cost management of the project and the tracking and managing of approximately $7M in force accounts, change of plans, added work and change orders. Contract one was awarded 1 year extension of time due to added work activities and unforeseen constraints, and Abbonizio completed all activities ahead of the new schedule.

Project Manager  South Street Bridge Reconstruction Project, Philadelphia, PA $68M The South Street Bridge Reconstruction Project involved the complete removal and replacement of the 12 span structure spanning across numerous entities. The structure spanned across the SEPTA Airport line, Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor rails, CSX Freight lines, the Schuylkill Expressway, University of Pennsylvania’s sports fields, the Schuylkill River and provided direct access into Historic Hollenback Hall and the SEPTA University City Train Station. The aggressive progress schedule required a 22 month completion with substantial liquidated damages. As the Project Manager my responsibilities included coordinating all material deliveries, subcontractor interactions, self-performed labor, equipment and material tracking and overall cost accounting. Significant coordination was required with the Project Owners, adjacent property owners, utility owners, the Coast Guard, and numerous other entities that were affected by the construction. The project was completed ahead of schedule and within budget.

 Market Street Elevated Reconstruction Project, Philadelphia, PA $135M The Market Street Reconstruction Project was scoped to remove and replace 4 elevated rail stations and 61 guideway bridge sections. As the Precast Yard Project Engineer my responsibilities included ensuring that all submittals, schedules, materials, subcontractors and labor forces were organized and the associated costs were tracked and managed within budget. A very aggressive schedule was set forth to ensure that all decks were constructed during the winter months to ensure readiness for the spring and summer track outages. During the outages I was tasked as an outage coordinator. This included being the organizer and sole point of contact for the self-perform work, the demolition, transportation, erection, rail and electrical sub contractors as well as the Project Management team, owner’s representatives and other owner-hired contractors. The outages were tracked using P3 on an hourly basis. Extensive planning and coordination went into the successful completion of the outages.
