Currently I provide assistance in projects including structural, mechanical, and janitorial maintenance, landscaping, repairs, and renovations for Calgary Christian School. At the same time I am looking for any opportunities to expand my career as a welder, or metal fabricator whether that be directly through an active Apprenticeship, or any starting position such as a Labourer. Because of the how unsuccessful I have been in finding a job in this industry I have thought about marketing my own work such as decorative wrought iron, custom cnc cut hardware, professional bladesmithing, and silver jewelry. Ever since I took on welding, my interest, my understanding, and my skills in metal work has greatly increased. Put that together with my creativity and you find someone who enjoys and is skilled at blacksmithing/metal fabrication. Any metal fabrication position that would give me an opportunity to move forward is what I am now looking for. Building on my training at SAIT I have learned many different techniques in fabricating metal. I have learned how to use CAD, to 3D design projects and fabricate them using manual and electrical machinery such as benders, rolling mills, English wheels, bead rollers, hydraulic press, angle grinders, belt grinders, and die grinders, miter saws, band saws, oxy fuel torches, AC and DC welders, Plasma cutters, and operate a 3' x 4' CNC plasma table.Being someone who is also interested in science and technology, I have studied metallurgy next to knife engineering learning, to work with different metals including aluminum, copper, brass, silver, stainless steel, carbon steels, and many different alloy tool steels, and high speed steels. The use of so many different metals adds several other techniques needed to fasten them or bond them, such as brazing, soldering, and use of taps, dies, and rivets.Having completed courses and passed all government qualification exams equivalent to two years of training in Gmaw, Fcaw, Smaw, Gtaw, and oxy fuel cutting, I no longer would need coverage for the first two years; all that is needed is the work experience. My high level of diligence/determination and concentration allows me to work continuously for long periods of time. I take pride in the quality of my work, keeping close attention to detail.
