I am an experienced diversity, equity and inclusion professional with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. I am a gay, cis-male, Mexican American and a first generation college graduate. During my 15 years as a resident of Duluth, Minnesota, I was an Academic Excellence Coordinator at the University of Minnesota Duluth Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the former Director of Diversity and Inclusion at the College of St. Scholastica and former Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Specialist at Life House.I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching, General Business Certificate and Human Services Certificate at the University of Minnesota Duluth and am a certified Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI).In the Duluth community I serve as the Treasurer for the Duluth Branch NAACP, served as a facilitator of Race Awareness Workshops (RAW) through the Family Freedom Center, volunteer with Together for Youth, a LGBTQ support group for youth supported by Lutheran Social Services and I serve on the Leadership Team for Take Action Minnesota.
