I have a Bachelor of Science from Montreat College in Outdoor Education with a minor in Environmental Studies. I have 18 years as a sworn law enforcement officer working in state parks, universities, municipalities, state government facilities and airports. In addition to 16 years of patrol experience, I have also been a field training officer (F.T.O.) for 9 years, successfully mentoring and training newly hired officers at Duke University and NC State Capitol Police. I was a bike patrol officer and managed the bike patrol program at Duke University from 2005 to 2008. I have been a certified general instructor since 2007 and a specialized firearms instructor and conceal carry handgun instructor since 2009 under the NC Department of Justice. I am a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors and have completed the I.A.L.E.F.I. Master Instructor Development Program. I also have 17 years of experience as a volunteer fire fighter and I am certified as a Level II Fire Fighter, Haz-Mat Operations, Emergency Vehicle Driver, and as an Emergency Medical Technician. In addition to my time volunteering in the fire service, I have also volunteered with food banks, church praise bands and construction projects for Christ centered ministries. I am motivated by team-work, helping those who can't help themselves and making the name of Jesus Christ known. I am a well-organized, team-oriented problem solver. I am goal-directed with the ability to see the big picture and keep all things in perspective. I am purpose driven and not afraid to make decisions that are for the benefit of those that I serve. I believe in leadership by example in both my personal and professional life, and I do my best to work with integrity, honesty and courage. I look forward to challenges and the opportunity that comes with difficult situations to find a positive outcome for all those involved.

In addition to managing all equipment and purchasing, I assist with departmental vehicle maintenance, registration renewal, and vehicle procurement.I maintain my law enforcement certification and when needed provide coverage and supervision for shifts.
