Directed by Life Builders & Dr. Alan Childs on Children, Inc. - Facilitate a specialized character development curriculum involving empathy, conflict resolution, anger management, decision making, and substance abuse to middle and high school students referred for expulsion. Assist parent facilitators in topics regarding student’s home, school, community experiences, redefining family discussions, and overall educational goal setting.

Provided cross-cultural trainings for youth ages 5-18 to assist in their transition as expatriates to a new country utilizing AG’s "Thriving in Your New Culture" program, which included introducing cultural competency models, reviewing target culture norms, and assessing lifestyle changes needed to address the following: school structures, friends, teachers, free-time activities and sports, culinary, language, and geography.Provided family with the framework of understanding the cultural adjustment process, creating action plans for settling in and adapting family needs, and strategies of applying soft skills for school and social interactions.

Managed an apprenticeship program in partnership with After School Matters for 6th-12th grade students, that consisted of daily operations, development and supervision of staff and apprentices, curriculum development and instruction of interdisciplinary arts and performance (digital media, media writing, theater and installation design), and event coordination of final gallery showing.Co-managed the Teen REACH after school program, implementing academic and social-emotional learning services with a focus on youth voice, social change & leadership development.

Co-managed Umoja’s Community Builder’s Summer Internship program, which consisted of development and supervision of interns, program operations from start to finish, direct instruction in media literacy, restorative justice/anti-violence practices, peer mediation and peace/talking circles practices, and (in collaboration with Free Spirit Media) coordination of a student-lead documentary “Message Matters”. Developed and facilitated academic tutorials customized with ISBE and ISAT learning objectives for groups of 10-15 middle school students in the areas of literacy, math, science and the arts. Facilitated curriculum and coordinated enrichment vendors that provided instruction of topics regarding physical health, cultural exposure, team building, sportsmanship, and character building.Assigned volunteer interns to work with PODER staff, ensuring the understanding of their supervisory role and providing communication between PODER participants and volunteer interns.

Through Bridging the Gap: Research Informing Practice for Healthy Youth Behavior - Responsible for gathering observational data from various communities throughout Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin, which include site-specific information of retail food outlets, physical activity establishments, public parks, built environment regarding physical conditions, and specific characteristics of advertisements.

Conducted Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), assisted in Phase II ESA’s, Toxics Release Inventory reporting, Indoor Air Quality assessments and abatement oversight (asbestos, lead and mold), technical report writing, and cost estimations and proposals. Assessment services included on-site asbestos surveys, lead-based paint and polychlorinated biphenyl surveys, underground storage tank investigations, prior use evaluations, geophysical surveys, soil and groundwater sampling, and hazardous waste activity reviews.Project oversight consisted of historical research, regulatory file reviews, report preparation, budget management, and overall correspondence with federal, state, and local government agencies.
