Postgraduate practice academy focussed on training the next generation of professionals in the field of sustainability, an Initiative of Mario Cucinella. The aim is to develop a holistic design approach to deliver conscientious projects that are responsive to their climatic and social context. SOS students work in close collaboration with industry partners and Mario Cucinella Architects (MCA), where training is inspired by the active projects and expertise of a professional practice setting.Parametric design and systems mapping tools are used for deep analyses that shape the initial concept and eventual outcomes of a project.The initial foundation modules of Common Ground, Environmental Design and Leading Practices were followed by a series of professional projects that allowed for skills previously learnt to be developed and refined. This culminated in a final project of 5 months which, for the project track of Post Carbon Architecture, was a masterplan and prototype development for future living in the United Arab Emirates. Provided engineering calculations and advice for houses built using bamboo, cococrete, hempcrete and superadobe.
