I am the primary manager of all accounts, and I believe in taking a multifaceted approach to portfolio management, pursuing investments across country, market capitalization, and sector boundaries. I have over 15 years experience as an active portfolio manager, along with an additional 15 years experience in equity sales and investment banking; I also bring to the table a strong global perspective through my international experience in the trading world, having worked for NatWest in Sydney, Hong Kong, and London. I founded Downey Capital Management as a family business in 1999 with my father to manage our funds in the manner we believed most beneficial. We have since developed this into a model that has grown to accommodate a variety of clients. We pride ourselves on our commitment to long-only individual stock picking in a market increasingly crowded by leveraged hedge funds and “index hugging” mutuals. We have consistently outperformed all major market indexes by a wide margin, and we are happy to provide specific figures upon request. We are also committed to the transparency of our business, and invest our clients’ capital in exactly the same fashion as we invest our own, name for name and trade for trade. This philosophy encourages precision of thought, sound analysis, and honesty in all dealings.
